One billion dollars: That's how much Navy ships and submarines colliding at sea could cost the U.S. Fleet Forces Command according to the Navy Times.

The unbudgeted repairs are just one of the many things to consider while the Navy still operates without a budget.

The Norfolk based USS Porter was damaged in August when it collided with a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz.

That repair is going to cost the Navy more than 125 million dollars.

The Norfolk-based Montpelier also has to be repaired  after colliding with the USS San Jacinto off the Coast of Florida.

The repairs to the submarine and ship will cost the Navy over 50 million dollars.

The most expensive repair will be the USS Miami. It will cost over 450 million dollars to fix after it was set on fire back in May.

Admiral Bill Gortney told the Navy Times that he doesn't get extra money to fix these unbudgeted repairs, especially with the threat of sequestration looming.

This year, a minesweeper got stuck on a reef in the Philippines so there's another unexpected cost for the Navy to deal with.
