Norfolk, Va. –Today, two brothers from Portsmouth were convicted for a series of robberies that occurred in 2011 during the summer.

Both Laquan Draper, 21, and Angelo Draper, 20, are facing a maximum sentence of life in prison after being convicted of conspiracy to commit robbery, 12 counts of commercial robbery, and discharging a firearm during a robbery.

Laquan Draper was convicted of the robbery of the ABC Store on Little Creek Road in Norfolk and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Officials say the brothers went on an 8-week robbery spree in July 2011 that went from Norfolk to Roanoke. They tied shirts around their faces and went into 7-Eleven stores with either guns or replicas, jumped over the counter and took money from employees officials say.

The brothers were also convicted of conspiring to rob employees of 20 establishments including 7-Eleven stores, two McDonald’s, a Wendy’s, an ABC Store, and a Fast Auto Loans location.

They say at Got It Video in Norfolk, the brothers and another person shot out the locked front door and held customers and clerks at gunpoint.

The Drapers were arrested in August 2011 after a high-speed chase that lasted 20 minutes in Chesapeake officials say. They crashed a stolen Satrun Vue into a police vehicle injuring two detectives officials say.

They are scheduled to be sentenced on May 6th
