Off-duty Suffolk firefighter rescues dog from burning home

Suffolk, Va. – Today, Suffolk crews put out flames at a home in the 1200 block of Peachtree Drive in the Willowbrook neighborhood. 

Officials say a call was made at around 12:37 p.m. when an off-duty Suffolk firefighter, who was the first on the scene, rescued the family’s dog from a burning house.

When units arrived, they say they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the home.

The fire was under control at around 1:19 p.m.

The home sustained damage and the family of two adults and four children have been displaced.

No one was at home at the time of the fire. No injuries have been reported.

Crews are still investigating the cause of the fire.
