Eight-year-old Pat berg cannot hold back the tears after finding out his neighbor and best friend died in an early morning house fire in Gloucester County.

"I know Pat would love to speak to his mom, to little Thomas' mom but right now we're just going to give them their peace with what they're going through. But our hearts are always there with them," said Pat's mother, Kristina.

Three children, ages 7, 2, and six-months-old, died in the fire.

"I don't like seeing my kids cry. I can't hide 'em from the truth that this is something people deal with everyday," Berg said. "I just wish this hadn't happened, they're such a great family."

Three adults were home and got out of the burning house on Summerville Road in Gloucester.

The grandmother went back in, and died trying to save the children.

"For them to lose three children, I just don't know how they're going to get through this," Berg said.

The family lost everything in the fire, the material things that are gone are nothing compared to the loss of life.

Neighbors know they can only give their hearts to the family and console them over those that can't be brought back and offer to help replace the things they can.

"They're very devastated, they've never had to deal with anything like this before," Berg said.
