Passengers on a Qantas flight over Australia were surprised to see a 12-foot python clinging onto the wing at 30,000 feet.

The plane was 20 minutes into its flight from Cairns in northern Australia to Papua New Guinea when a passenger noticed the python.

Unlike the movie Snakes on a Plane, this reptile was on the outside of the plane.

Passenger Robert Weber told the Sydney Morning Herald:

‘There was no panic,” he said, “at no time did anyone stop to consider there might be others on board.”

The python managed to hang on until the plane landed, but an airline spokesman said the creature was dead on arrival.

Weber told the Sydney Morning Herald:

”I felt quite sad for it, really. For the remainder of the flight, he was trying to pull himself back into the plane, even though he was fighting against 400km/h winds. The cabin crew told us that at cruising altitude, it was minus 12 degrees outside – but not even that was able to finish him.”
