Virginia Beach, Va. - Officials are now searching for a woman who they say may have more information about a dog being thrown from a vehicle.

On Wednesday, a woman brought a dog to the Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center on South Birdneck Road. She told the desk clerk that she had witnessed the dog being thrown from a vehicle on Salem Road near the intersection of Landstown Road in Virginia Beach sometime around 1:30 p.m.

However, the woman left before being asked for her contact information in order for an Animal Control Officer to question her about what she had witnessed.

The woman is described as a white female in her 40s to early 50s, has brown hair, and was wearing a pink t-shirt and blue jeans.

At this time, she is only wanted for questioning as to what she had witnessed.

The dog is an older male, black and white Shih Tzu that is resting comfortably, although obviously sore from muscle injuries to his neck and back, under the care of the Veterinarian at the Animal Care and Adoption Center.

The cruelty investigation stems from the information the woman told the clerk; additionally, the dog is suffering from a chronic eye infection, flea allergies, flea infestation, and hair loss.

Animal Control Officers would like to know if you know the woman, know who owns this dog, or may have been a witness to this crime.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the Virginia Beach Crime Solvers Office at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or text VBTIP with your information to CRIMES (274637). Callers and texters remain anonymous and are eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $1,000 if their information leads to an arrest.
