UPDATE: Virginia Beach Councilman Bill DeSteph has confirmed that “no team is willing to sign up” for the arena deal, and the project as envisioned now by the mayor is not moving forward.

Virginia Beach, Va. - Mayor Sessoms of Virginia Beach is expected to make an announcement about the proposed arena.

The city plans to ask the General Assembly for $150 million to help build the new arena.

Mayor Will Sessoms wanted Comcast-Spectacor to guarantee there was a professional  team coming to play in the arena before asking for that money.

The deadline to hear back from Comcast was yesterday - and Sessoms said Comcast made that deadline.

He will not say if an NBA team has in fact been secured, or if the city will go ahead with the $150 million funding request.

The mayor has said that even if there isn't an NBA team deal, that doesn't mean the end of the arena plans.
