Norfolk police arrest man after attempted carjacking

Norfolk, Va. – Norfolk police arrested a man who tried to carjack a woman as he was running from officers trying to chase him down for a previous larceny. Terry Leonard Matthews was captured just after noon on Saturday.
A woman was getting into her car in the parking lot of Southern Shopping Center when Matthews, as he was running from police, climbed into the passenger side of her car and demanded her to drive away.
The woman saw officers approaching and climbed out of her car, taking her keys with her.
Matthews was taken into custody and charged with Felony Third Offense Petit Larceny and Resisting Arrest. He is being held in the Norfolk City Jail.
