OK, I’m glad Reid is trying to be careful for his sweetheart, but I really wanted to watch this first date! Oh, and I was surprised they chose Beth Riesgraf to play the part. Secretly I was hoping for the bartender he did his magic trick on back in Season 4 of “Criminal Minds.” I am a fan of “Leverage,” so seeing Beth here may be a little weird for me. At least we are finally getting some details about her background and her stalker it seems. I’m intrigued to say the least.

I knew the sidekick wasn’t real! That was one of the first things I noticed about the kidnappings. No one else was referring to him, so in TV-Land that means he isn’t real. Matthew Gray Gubler, who plays Reid, did a great job directing this episode. The soundtrack was particularly haunting. I think it terrified me a bit more than usual. Plus, the episode gave us a break from the gore that seems to be such a focus this season. I mean dislocating all the joints was disgusting, but we were able to see what was happening without having to see it all happen. Leaving a bit to the imagination; I like it.

Back to Reid’s dating, did you catch Hotchner’s face when J.J. mentioned Reid’s girlfriend? He was in total shock. And Blake’s text about how the girl would love him was priceless. It was just a perfectly awkward and wonderful set-up. Still, I’m worried for Reid’s safety. There’s just so much focus on him.

I can’t wait to see what Gubler comes up with when he directs another episode in March!
