A family is devastated after their father is killed in a drive-by shooting in Newport News. Just a day after he died, they are determined to find his killer.

“I was so emotional. I didn’t want to believe it. That’s my daddy, he’s the only one I got. I didn’t want to believe it was him but it was when I got there,” said Kristen Allen-Joyner, the victim’s daughter.

Someone shot and killed Everette Harrison, 48, just five days before his birthday around 3 o’clock Tuesday afternoon.  Police tell Newschannel 3 the father of four was standing outside White’s Grocery when he was hit in the neck and died at the intersection of 19th Street and Buxton.

“I just lost it because I just feel like nobody was there for him. Nobody is trying to find out who did this.  Nobody is trying to have any respect for what happened. It’s just another dead man,” explained his daughter.

“Somebody should at least have a heart and come forward–that way my daddy can die in peace,” Allen-Joyner told NewsChannel 3.

Harrison leaves behind four children, nine grandchildren, along with dozens of other relatives.

Police only know that the gunman’s car is blue. But the family believes someone in the area knows the person who pulled the trigger, killing Everette Harrison.

The family is planning a vigil for Everette Harrison. They’re asking folks to bring a candle to White’s Grocery Store on Friday, December 14th at 6 p.m.
