Oceanfront store tops list of Black Friday liquor sales in Virginia

Virginia Beach’s Laskin Road store took in $63,287 on Black Friday.

Virginia Beach, Va. – Virginia ABC received an overwhelmingly positive response to its Black Friday sale, officials tell NewsChannel 3. The state’s top selling store, Virginia Beach’s Laskin Road store, took in $63,287 – an 85 percent increase over last year’s sales.

Reports show that Virginians spent $5.9 million dollars in wine and spirits in the state’s 338 stores during the sale, 86 percent more than the nearly $3.2 million they spent on Black Friday in 2011.

Nearly one third of all stores doubled or more than doubled 2011 sales for Black Friday, recording increases of 100 percent or higher in sales.

Only five of 338 stores saw a decline based on 2011 sales, officials say.

The state’s top selling store, Virginia Beach’s Laskin Road store, took in $63,287 on Black Friday. That’s an 85 percent increase over last year’s sales.

Virginia’s top 10 selling stores totaled more than a half million dollars in sales.
