Students at Green Run High School spent the day writing Christmas cards for the troops.

They've collected over 2,000 cards since October!

School leaders and students agree that this is a great way to give back.

"This is an annual thing we've done for the past four years. Our students have really had the honor of writing cards to active-duty service members and sending them out. We've sent over 3,500 cards out over the past four years," says Dr. George Parker, Green Run High School Principal.

"It actually warms my heart. Having a father who's in the Navy, having a father who's been away during the holidays—it touches my heart knowing someone is going to be reading it, and someone is going to be saving it and they're going to treasure it," says Elizabeth Caron, a Green Run High School Student.

The school will send the cards to the Red Cross on Friday.

From there, they will be sent to the troops.
