Darryl Wayne Gandy, 39, of Norfolk pleaded guilty and was sentenced Tuesday on charges of aggravated sexual battery, three counts of producing child pornography, and possession of child pornography.

Gandy was sentenced to 30 years with 15 years suspended, leaving 15 years to serve.
Officials say if this case had gone to trial, they had evidence to show that between April 13, 2005 and April 12, 2006, Gandy sexually assaulted a child he knew several times.

They say on July 25, 2011, another adult contacted police after finding a box of nude photos of the child taken by Gandy.

Officials say Gandy admitted taking the pictures but denied sexually assaulting the child.

He was previously convicted for indecent exposure and two counts of domestic assault.
