New details have emerged about more than 18 million gallons of sewage spilled in Suffolk.

The Hampton Roads Sanitation District is going to use oxygen to help fix the problem in Shingle Creek.

The spill, caused by Hurricane Sandy, happened off Wilroy Road.

Officials say they'll be adding lots of oxygen and water to the sewage helping to restore levels.

They say that's faster than letting it happen naturally and helps things living in the stream.

The process also helps get rid of contaminants released into the water during the spill.
