VDOT is monitoring weather conditions for possible high tide impacts. This will affect the Monitor-Merrimac Bridge Tunnel, James River Bridge, Coleman Bridge, Downtown Tunnel, and the HRBT.

These bridges and tunnels are expected to remain open to traffic, but travel will become more hazardous as winds start impact the region. Bridges and bridge-tunnels could close if winds reach more than 39 miles per hour. Crews will be pulled off the structures and travelers will have the ability to travel “at your own risk”. Motorists are encouraged to stay off the roads during the storm, if possible.

Currently, the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry is at a reduced capacity due to high tides. The Pocahontas is running in both directions. The Midtown Tunnel  is open in both directions, however travel speeds are being regulated using pilot vehicles to ensure safety. The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel is under a Level 2 wind restrictions.
