It's been 12 years since 17 Norfolk-based sailors aboard the USS Cole were killed.

Terrorists hit the ship while it was docked in Yemen.

Today Naval Station Norfolk celebrated the 237th year of the United States Navy.

Part of the ceremony included historical reflection.

Families of those 17 sailors killed in the Cole attack are in Northern Virginia today.

Mona and Lou Gunn, the parents of Seaman Cherone Gunn, will visit their son's grave at the Arlington National Cemetery.

The terrorists accused of masterminding the Cole attack have yet to stand trial.

The case is still in the preliminary stages.
