New courthouse for Portsmouth

Portsmouth now has a brand new courthouse.

According to officials, the circuit, general district, and juvenile and domestic relations courts will now all be under the same roof.

The new building is called “The Portsmouth Judicial Center”, located at 1345 Courthouse Street and Port Centre Parkway. 

The building is bigger and is full of state-of-the-art technology.

The project cost about $78 million. Plans call for the old court site on the waterfront to be redeveloped.
