According to a release from Virginia Lottery, a retired man from the Eastern Shore won $150,000 in a scratch off ticket over Labor Day weekend.

He takes top prize in the Virginia Lottery Scratcher game.

Officials say Elliot Bailey of Eastville had a Virginia Lottery Scratcher ticket worth $150,000 in his possession, but he had to wait until after the long holiday weekend to go to the Lottery’s customer service center to claim it.

“I knew it would change my life,” he told Lottery officials when he finally did redeem his winning ticket.

Bailey, who is retired, won the top prize in the ‘Ca$h in Hand’ game with a ticket he bought at Shore Stop, located at 16476 Lankford Highway in Eastville.

‘Ca$h in Hand’ is one of dozens of Scratcher games available from the Virginia Lottery. It features prizes ranging from $5 all the way up to $150,000.

Bailey is the third player to win the top prize in ‘Ca$h in Hand’, which means seven $150,000 prizes remain unclaimed.
