Norfolk, Va. – Two men wanted for murder in Tennessee were arrested by U.S. Marshals in Norfolk last night.
20-year-old Tevin Lumpkin and Charles Liphford, 32, of Milan, Tennessee were arrested last night by U.S. Marshals and Norfolk police after an investigation led them to an apartment in Norfolk.
The U.S. Marshals in the Western District of Tennessee worked closely with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and developed information that Lumpkin and Liphford had fled to Virginia.
The U.S. Marshals Office in Norfolk was able to locate and arrest the fugitives at an apartment complex where the fugitives had been hiding out.
These charges stemmed from an incident on Aug. 25, in which Lumpkin engaged in a confrontation with several other people at a nightclub in Paris, Tenn. The altercation resulted in Eric Kinley being shot inside the club in front of numerous witnesses.
Two others had been previously arrested in the case, but Lumpkin had remained on the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Top 10 list since Aug. 28.
Lumpkin has a criminal history that dates back to 2010 and includes attempted criminal homicide, assault on a police officer, aggravated assault, multiple other assault charges, drug charges and resisting arrest.
As stated by one Deputy U.S. Marshal, “This was a team effort made possible by the collaboration of various agencies. We’re happy to take two dangerous fugitives off of the streets.”
