Drivers who use Princess Anne Road are used to seeing construction crews and cones from Dam Neck to the Municipal Center. But city officials say they won't be there much longer.

The Princess Anne Road expansion is about 70 percent complete. This 61-million dollar project, which was funded by federal grants, will widen Princess Anne Road from two lanes to four.

Project manager Alex Paragas says it’s needed to help with the congestion.

The project was scheduled to be completed by 2014, but Paragas says it will likely be finished well before then.

It’s news many drivers are happy to hear.

Meghan Bell says, "[Better to] deal with it now than deal with it later. And hopefully traffic will be cleared up when everything is done."
