Update: Gas leak shuts down Norfolk streets

10:41 a.m. Thursday Norfolk Gas Leak Update – All fire units have cleared the scene at this time. Virginia Natural Gas, along with contractors, are still on scene trying to secure the leak; they have opened two lanes north and south bound in that area.

Gas leak crews are currently working in the 7600 block of Sewells Point Road.

Currently units are on scene, officials say – Virginia Natural Gas is on scene also.

The road between Ave I and Ave J will be blocked for approximately 2 hours. At this time, no businesses are affected, and no residents had to be evacuated from the area.
