We shine our People Taking Action spotlight on a Suffolk barber shop that's taking the business on the road to offer free haircuts in the city's public housing communties.

Thanks to the barbers of the Chop Shop - the kids at Cypress Manor Apartments and Parker Riddick Village, didn't have to pay a dime at a mobile barbershop that came to their community.

For Rarsan Barnes, the owner of the Chop Shop - this hits close to home.

"Cause I actually lived here years ago. I lived here years ago and I've been blessed I started my businesss eight years ago and I've been blessed - I'm just giving back."

And the barbers who run the Chop Shop, point out they're going to be taking their mobile location on the road to four other locations, including a senior citizens facility over the next few weeks. And next month they're doing a charity softball tournament to help raise money for back to school supplies.

Darry Frazier is very appreciative - he brought his seven year old son.

"I want to say thank you because you don't have too many people that come out to the community and help these kids to get haircuts and do things as school supplies."

Barnes says, "It makes us feel good too, knowing we did something we made a difference in our community."
