“I lost all her clothes, her crib, bassinet, so many Pampers, bottles.  She lost everything.  The only thing I could grab was her.”

Denna Anderson was home with her 3-week-old baby yesterday when the house she shares on Galt Street with her mom and sister burst into flames.

Her family lost everything, including their dog.

“She was underneath the bed like I said, scared to come out,” she says.

As they are recovering in a Norfolk hotel, they are trying to figure out what to do next.

“I’m still blessed.  I`ve got my granddaughter.  I`ve got my kids.  We lost sugar, but we`re just taking one day at a time,” she says.

With only two more nights paid for by the Red Cross, they didn't even know where they would stay Sunday night until NewsChannel 3 got a hold of the Salvation Army.

“We want to help them find some stability so they can begin looking at the next steps,” they said.

The group took action by putting together boxes of food, and setting them up with two more weeks at a hotel to get their lives back in order.

“Thank you, thank you very much.  We really appreciate it,” they said.

But with no savings, it will be hard to start over - especially with a new-born.

“Turned three weeks old yesterday and lost everything,” she says.

NewsChannel 3 also wanted to Take Action and help this family every way we could, so we went to Target shopping and we got this car seat because that little baby’s car seat was destroyed from that fire. We also got bags full of diapers, some baby wipes, and a couple of bottles.

“Awww thank you!  And some diapers.  Thank you so much thank you so very much.  Thank you all very much.  I really appreciate it,” she says.

And that is the good news.
