Alberto barely a tropical storm (11 pm update)

Tropical Storm Alberto is barely hanging on as a tropical storm, with maximum sustained winds of just 40 mph.

Alberto is expected to move very little over the next few hours. But on Monday, the storm is forecast to begin moving northeast and be off the Outer Banks by Tuesday morning.

The storm will have little impact on Hampton Roads and most of northeastern North Carolina.  We can expect scattered showers and storms for the next few days, the threat of rip currents and tides running slightly above normal.

The central and southern Outer Banks can expect some gusty winds, brief, heavy downpours, rough surf and a little minor flooding at times of high tide.
